This sturdy pair of vintage binoculars/field glasses was made by Regent, and comes complete with a plaited cord to hang them around your neck, and a linen bag. (I believe the cord is original, but I am unsure about the bag.)
I have no idea of their exact age, but they belonged to a very elderly friend of mine, and I suspect they are several decades old. They are black-painted metal, covered in a shagreen-like material and stamped “REGENT No 5189″ and ” 7 x 50 COATED OPTICS”. They measure approximately 7.5 inches (19.5 cm) square and weigh approximately 1100 gms.
They are in good working order, with no damage to the lenses, but are a bit scruffy as they have been used regularly over the years – which adds to their character. So, a useful and practical item which I hope will go to a good home.
