Vintage Pre WW1 German Military Type Carl Zeiss Jena Turact 8×24 Binocular 1912Click images to enlargeDescriptionMilitary Type Carl Zeiss (Jena) Turact 8×24 Prismatic Binocular from 1912, Pre WW1.This Carl Zeiss Jena Turact 8×24 prismatic binocular is in good, fully working condition. The bodyis only showing some signs of use, with rubbed/flaked paint in the raised areas, as shown in the supplied images. Both Bakelite eyecups are perfect without any damage. The leather body covering is all intact and complete. Theoptics are very sharp. Internally, when viewed through in reverse,there is a little dirt/fungus visible in both tubes tube. The prisms are perfect, without any visible chips or damage.Consequently, the view through these wonderful, historic binoculars which is good now, will be excellent again following internal cleaning. Considering these binoculars areover 100 years of age, I feel they are in very good condition! In addition, they are in perfect collimation. For their vintage, the images they provide are superb, as you would expect from such an excellent binocular. They come complete with their original neck strap and fixings.The mechanics of this binocular are excellent too, with all adjustments being smooth and firm without any slop. The military type, with individual focus eyepieces are both free moving.Thebinocularis stamped with ‘Carl Zeiss Jena’ and ‘Tiract 8X’.
