Vintage Large & heavy Binoculars – WW1? Bakelite Caps – Brass & other metal
VINTAGE BINOCULARS
Unfortunately I can’t find any makers name on them, but going by information elsewhere on the internet I think it’s very likely that they date from the First World War
They measure approx 7″ high and approx 7.5″ at the widest point
Made mostly of brass which as you can see has been painted with some kind of black paint which has come off in places as shown
When looked through there is a grid along the side and bottom
They’re quite clear with some minor spots / dust?
I think the eye-pieces are bakelite but can’t be sure whether they’re the original ones or not
The strap is original, but worn. The bottom of the case is loose and the leather is flaky on the strap
Might be a good project for someone if it’s worth trying to remove the paint
Please let me know if I have described these incorrectly
Please remember that e-bay take a percentage of the postage charged
Any questions please ask and thanks for looking
