This is my beloved Meade 10″ F4.5 Newtonian Astronomical telescope that I am reluctantly selling due to lack of space and time these days.
It is in very good condition overall with excellent optics and has been well looked after for the many years that I have owned it. There are a few little cosmetic marks here and there as you’d expect with a 25 year old ‘scope but it’s generally in excellent condition.
The plasticized sonotube construction houses the primary and secondary mirrors.The mirrors are clean and clear. I haven’t used it for a while and the optics may need collimating (aligning) but that’s a straightforward 5 minute job with plenty advice to be found on the internet. The rack and pinion focusing takes 1.25″ eyepieces (not included – please see my other listings). The clock-drive hasn’t been used for some years but there is no reason why it shouldn’t work now – just needs connecting to a mains lead and 3 pin plug. The German equatorial mount is smooth and precise in operation and sits upon a steel pillar with 3 legs for rigidity. There is a Meade 6x30mm spotting scope attached to the main telescope. You will also notice a black tube bolted to the clock-drive motor housing. This has no optics and is simply there to facilitate aligning the equatorial mount to the pole star (North).
