In very good condition for its 40 or so years of age (see below for imperfections due to wear), made by Swift in Japan, Ser.No. J-b56 754337. These 8.5×44 fully coated optics provide extra wide field – 445 feet at 1000 yards. Right ocular adjustment +2 to -2. Supplied with rubber caps for all 4 lenses. Screw thread insert for tripod on righthand side of body. Ideal for birding (for which it was used). Included is the original brown leather case and strap, and strap too for the binoculars – no rust on metal fittings of binoculars or case, and leather stitching undamaged. Weight 1.05 Kg. Now for the imperfections – all through use over the years. Some indentation and smoothing of the grey leatherette body covering (see photos) from pressure of the attached straps/fittings. (In hindsight, I should never had kept the strap on the binoculars when they were kept in the case). Some wear of the black paint on the ribbing of the metal focus wheel. A little rubbing on the edge of the brass tripod mount, but hinges clean and smooth in operation. The leather case shows some rubbing on the bottom edge, and stress marks in the leather of the top flap for fastening, and the case interior is very clean. I have no way I can test the optics, but they appear to be functioning as they should, and I can detect no internal dust or dirt.
Overall in very good condition for use, or as collectible item, better than most of this vintage.
