THE WORLD FAMOUS AUSTRIAN SWAROVSKI COMPANY HAVE BEEN IN EXISTENCE FOR WELL OVER 100 YEARS AND WHEN THEIR `HABICHT` RANGE OF BINOCULARS WERE LAUNCHED IN THE EARLY 1950`S, HIGH BUILD QUALITY AND OPTICAL EXCELLENCE WERE KEY FEATURES OF THEIR DESIGN. THE COMPANY IS TODAY A MARKET LEADER AT THE TOP END OF THE OPTICS MARKET, PRODUCING SUPERB AND EXPENSIVE ROOF PRISM BINOCULARS BUT ALSO THE TRADITIONAL HABICHT PORROPRISM MODELS – VERY SIMILAR TO THE CLASSIC MODEL ON OFFER HERE.This SWAROVSKI HABICHT 10 x 40 probably dates to the early sixties, it remains in good condition and is a stunning binocular to use, weighing only 600 grams it is easy to carry and handles really well, and the images it produces are simply exceptional in my opinion – bright and very very sharp. Expensive when new, this model was popular with the small but growing clan of birdwatchers in its day, but they rarely surface on the second hand market, and due to their age, often require servicing. Whether this example has been worked on I don`t know, but it focuses accurately and is clean internally. It comes with a good leather neckstrap and excellent original leather case with non-original but good leather straps, and a new microfibre lens cloth is supplied.
