This sale is for a super “genuine” pair of Victorian Mother-of-Pearl Opera Glasses / Binoculars & Case. For auction these super genuine antique Victorian Mother-of-Pearl Opera Glasses / Binoculars with the original Leather and Satin Silk Case.From the design , patina , construction and materials I would guess these are mid to late Victorian c1850 – 1890 , they could be earlier although I am not an expert in this field.The binoculars are in general good antique condition commensurate with materials , great age and careful use.The mother-of-pearl is good with just one tiny, tiny nibble, The gilt brass fittings are good with just expected surface wear commensurate with age. All the lenses are good with no damage , some dust and dirt inside , although a good clear image is still obtainable.The leather and satin silk case is fair with typical wear , dirt and patina commensurate with great age. The leather ends have come unstitched and one back hinge has a pin missing , which would be very easy to resolve.
