Don’t be fooled by the price, these waterproof binoculars are truly excellent. We’re often reviewed against other brands such as Steiner, Leica, Canon, Celestron, Bushnell, Nikon, etc. and we punch above our price. BBC Sky at Night voted our 10×50 Marine test winner against sets 3-4x the cost! These 10x42s are good value and highly durable. They can be used for bird watching, hunting, hill walking or general use.8×42 means 8x magnification with 42mm lenses. They’re a bit larger than our 8×32 but the 42mm lenses let in a good deal more light for a brighter image in poor viewing conditions. These have a slightly wider field of view than our 10x42s and a larger exit pupil.Many manufacturers cut corners and make binoculars as cheaply as possible. We use BAK-4 glass, others use inferior BAK-7 and make them sub-size. Avoid anything with Ruby “night vision” lenses, they’re junk and well below our minimum level of optical coating.These are a superbly made little binocular, perfect in every detail. They use roof instead of Porro prisms to make the design less bulky. Small enough to easily fit in your glove box, rucksack or panniers. They are very easy to hold for long periods. These are a joy to use, sometimes a binocular just feels right and this is a case in point.Our waterproof models not only have watertight seals but are nitrogen filled to avoid condensation. The optics are level IV, five layers of optical coating on every air-glass boundary all the way through the binocular! Very high light transmission compared to normal binoculars.On this model the objective lens covers are built into the rubber so you can’t lose them. It also makes them very quick to remove and replace.The eye cups twist up and down, this saves space when stored. If you wear glasses just leave them down for a perfect eye relief setting.
