Steiner Senator 15 x 80 Observation binoculars serial number 90243-27010. The Steiner Senator is the civilian version of the legendary Steiner M1580 used by military and law enforcement agencies around the world together with professional users such as air traffic controllers, naval patrols etc. ( For full spec go to manufacturer’s website https://www.steiner-optics.com/binoculars/military/m1580-military-15×80. ) This particular example is in very good, clean and undamaged condition however I am selling the binoculars on a “spares or repair” basis. This is because although the right-hand optics are crystal-clear, there is haze (dirt film) on the prisms in the left optics which will require cleaning and this noticeably effects the viewing on that side. Also, I think that the collimation may require fine-tuning as although there is no double image, I have experienced some eye-strain after prolonged use and this is the likely cause. (This can probably be addressed during the cleaning process. ) The good news is that apart from this, there is no damage whatsoever (cracks, chips or scratches) to any lenses, prism or optical coatings. And the binoculars are complete with no missing, worn or damaged parts. They also have there original Steiner lanyard and rain guard as suppled new. Cosmetically, they are in very good order. Rubber armour is all present and undamaged with just some slight surface scuffing. And there are some scratches (photo) on the central bar, probably where a previous owner has attached a tripod clamp. So a formidable set of quality binoculars needing very little work to restore them to top condition. The binoculars will be carefully packed in a well padded box for dispatch and sent fully insured.
