SkyWatcher Mak90 on EQ.

Excellent telescope for planetary observation.  In good condition.
Optically very good.  No scratches or dirty lenses,
A few little marks on outside of tube – see pics.

This is a 90mm Maksutov Catadioptric telescope renowned for excellent detail views rivaling those of a same size refractor but with a much shorter physical tube length for convenience.

The SkyWatcher brand has been praised by astronomy magazines world-wide as being among the best in class.

This telescope comes with:
Optical Tube Assembly. (90mm f13.9 F/L = 1250mm)
Eq Mounting incl. counterweight.
Tripod suitable for Maksutov use (Tall – Adjustible).
Slow Motions on both axes. Flexi cable on RA.
90 Degree ‘Diagonal’ for erect images and observing comfort.
Red Dot Finder
(New Battery installed 1/3/16 – RDF is ideal for planetary observation.)

Three eyepieces:
25mm = 50x magnification.
20mm = 62.5x magnification.
10mm = 125x magnification.

This telescope can operate well with up to 300x magnification – But 200x is a good limit for beginners!

The Mak90 has a magnitude limit of +13 on a good night.

Through the SkyWatcher Mak90

This telescope will show you the basics of general astronomy, nebulae, galaxies, comets but due to the small field of view in the Maksutov it is particularly good for observing the planets.  There is good detail to be had in this ‘serious sized’ amateur planetary telescope.

Mercury and Venus will show their phases.

Mars will show some dark markings and the polar cap.

You can see at least ten Asteroids or Minor Planets.

Jupiter will show two to four bands/belts (and, of course, its four Galilean moons).

Saturn will show its rings, including Cassini’s division, and three to four moons on a still night. 

Uranus and Neptune will be visible as tiny greeny / bluey discs.

(You can’t reliably see Pluto even with a 150mm refractor by eye!  Currently, Pluto is in Saggitarius, just north of ‘the Teapot’ ! )
 
You will be able to explore the craters, mountains, rills and valleys of the Moon when it’s in a phase, and the ray craters when it’s full.

This brilliant telescope represents a great start into the absorbing hobby of amateur astronomy. 
A telescope that will give years of satisfaction.  The Red Dot Finder is sufficient for locating objects that can be seen with the naked eye – Planets, stars etc.  It has a new battery and has full instructions in the sheets.
This telescope is in great useable condition and comes with three eyepieces – A great start to your collection.

This telescope has been seller refurbished and is as good as it can be,  it’s 10yrs old but VGC.
