This 8 inch scope has never been out of doors and it is excellent condition. I bought it a while ago, played with it indoors to learn how to use it, and then pointing it out of the skylight etc. but I never really got to use it properly. There was always something in the way of using it – rain, tiredness and so on, plus where I live there is a fair amount of light pollution from the street lamps and I don’t have much of a view of the sky! So I always thought I would take it into the countryside, but I never did. It is actually quite heavy and having moved it, it has to be set up at its new location.
It is, however, a fantastic telescope and it will find stars and planets for you using it’s built in database and then track them so they stay in your field of view. Looking at the moon is just absolutely amazing and it is surprising just how fast it is travelling relative to us, but the Synscan takes care of that with it’s built-in computerised electric motors.
When it arrived I wasn’t overly impressed with the supplied ocular lenses so I bought a couple of decent ones (pictured) and a collimator for setting it up.
Because this is so heavy and quite delicate I don’t want to post it, so it is for collection only from Llanfairfechan (on the main A55 North Wales coast road)
