SkyWatcher Heritage Flextube 130P on EQ.

Excellent telescope for astronomical observation.  In perfect optical condition. Designed to celebrate the 400th anniversary of telescopic observation, it has a decorative tube and ‘flextube’ tecnology.

This is a 130mm Parabolic Mirror Newtonian telescope renowned for excellent wide field views of Deep Sky Objects and sharp detailed views of the planets.

The 130mm f5 apperture and 650mm focal length gives good wide-field views and bright extended objects.

The FLEXTUBE design means that between uses the telescope shuts up to keep the mirror safe and consequently it takes up much less space than a traditional long tube reflector. Ideal for keeping in your house!  We also made a cover (See pictures) to keep dust from entering the telescope during storage or transportation.

This telescope comes with:
Optical Tube Assembly. (Parabolic 130mm f5 Main mirror F/L = 650mm)
Alt-Azimuth Mounting.  Sometimes incorrectly described as Dobsonian.
Red Dot Finder-scope (New and unused)
Complete assembly / instruction sheets.

Two eyepieces: 4 Magnifications!
25mm = 26x magnification.  (52x with Barlow)
10mm = 65x magnification. (130x with Barlow)

Barlow Lens:
Use this in conjunction with your eyepieces to double the magnification.
(All your future eyepiece purchases will have two magnification values!)

This telescope can operate well with up to 250x magnification – But 130x is a good limit for beginners!

Through the SkyWatcher 130P (Parabolic Newtonian Telescope).

Solar System:
This telescope will show you a good amount of detail on the planets.
Mercury and Venus will show their phases.
Mars will show some dark markings.
You can see at least ten Asteroids.
Jupiter will show two to four belts (and, of course, its four Galilean moons).
Saturn will show its ring system clearly and four or five moons on a ‘good’ night.
Uranus and Neptune will be visible as tiny green/blue discs.
(You can’t reliably see Pluto even with a 150mm telescope by eye!  Currently, Pluto is  in Saggitarius, just north of ‘the Teapot’ ! )
You will be able to explore the craters, mountains, rills and valleys of the Moon when it’s in a phase, and the ray craters when it’s full.

Deep Sky:
This Newtonian will gather enough light to show magnitude 13.5 stars.
It will show all the Messier objects (M1 to M110) and many more NGC galaxies, nebulae and star-clouds too.
The Pleiades, the Seven Sisters M45, will reveal many more members of their extended family in low power views that will amaze!
The Andromeda Galaxy M32,
The Great Nebula in Orion M42,
The Dumb-bell Nebula M27
Great Globular in Hercules M13 … will all be clearly visible.  ( Good luck with M97, ‘The Owl’, though! )

The SkyWatcher brand has been praised by astronomy magazines world-wide as being among the best in class.

WHAT DO OTHER AUTHORITIES SAY ABOUT THIS TELESCOPE?

BBC Sky At Night Magazine – Skywatcher 130p review:
“An excellent choice for anyone wanting an upgrade from a beginner’s scope, to something more advanced that will show celestial objects in greater detail.”

Astronomy Now – Skywatcher 130p review:
I was most impressed by the views revealed by the scope during testsThe Moon revealed a seemingly inexhaustible amount of fine detailThe mechanical and optical specification delivered at this price break puts it into an essentially peerless position. Highly recommended!

EXCELLENT PRAISE INDEED!

It’s a great start into the absorbing hobby of amateur astronomy.
Simply designed and very easy to use, this is a telescope that will give years of satisfaction.
This telescope is in great useable condition and comes with two eyepieces AND a bonus Barlow lens.
A great start to your eyepiece collection.

This telescope had a missing altitude axis fitting when it arrived at the original customer. They returned it.
The axis has been replaced, however, the usual clamp knob has been replaced with a simple wing-nut (See pics).
This arrangement works perfectly and the telescope is fine in use and is very well balanced.

The finder is a brand new Red Dot Finder (With instructions)

Please examine pictures carefully and feel free to ask any questions.

This wonderful telescope comes in the original presentation box.
