PNB-2 RUSSIAN BORDER GUARD OBSERVATION BINOCULARS.
Intended for medium to long range observation of air and ground targets and the determination of their angular co-ordinates. These giant binoculars are a tribute Russian optical ingenuity, with a performance that simply has to be seen to be believed. A large exit pupil diameter of 7.33mm provides exceptional light passing power, which when combined with its high magnification of x15 allows the user to view over vast distances with delightfully bright, crisp, high resolution images. Robust and reliable in construction incorporating an uncomplicated yet thoughtfully designed mechanical layout ensuring ease of operation and quick precise targeting. These binoculars have a wide variety of applications and are suitable for use by coastguards, law enforcement organisations, customs, farmers etc. Amazing, powerful, vivid colours and excellent in twilight or night.

 x15 magnification, 110mm diameter objective lenses, 6 deg angle of view, Field at 100m=10.5m, focusing10m-inf, on individually focused dioptre scale eye pieces, fully coated precision ground optics, orange and neutral filters, rubber lens caps, rapid targeting hand grips, padded headrest, screw in silica gel cartridges, wooden tripod, operating temperatures -40 c to +50 c , weight 25kg, (15kg without tripod), supplied in wooden carrying case. Easily removable optical range finding graticule in the right eye piece, gives the range of an object 1.7m high (5’7″ person) in km distance. This can be easily taken out.

Designed for the medium to long range observation of air and ground targets. The huge 110mm objective lenses provide incredible light gathering power, which when combined with its high magnification of x15, allows the user to view over vast distances with delightfully bright, crisp, high resolution images. Especially good in low light. The plate says -2 0123 (PNB-2 Il0123).They are excellent for marine use, and can frequently be seen in Coastguard stations in the UK. Now rare, these binoculars are a real treasure to look through and RNLI use them for cliff-top life saving – you can read the side of a container off shore on a ship at 4 miles – they are amazing – the equivalent European super-binos would be astronomical.I don’t think there is anything like this available now.

Optically in excellent condition. Optics/lenses have no scratches, no moisture, no dust, no mold, no fungus. Optics are crystal clear. I have owned these binoculars from new in 2002, they have been used from indoors looking out to sea in Cornwall and occasionally outside on a clear night to look at the stars. You can easily see the Andromeda Galaxy which is too dim for the naked eye but the night sky is spectacular with these binoculars. Always carefully looked after, one owner from new, I intend to sell.
