ROSS of LONDON  8 X 40 SPECTAROSS BINOCULARSThisauction is for a very RARE modelproduced during the 1960 ‘s having a interesting and innovative designespecially for the spectacle wearer. They have a long eye relief of 25 mm but arestill useable for users of spectacles. Theyare in a very good condition having the original solid leather case inexcellent condition, complete also with leather strap and lanyard. Theserial number is 12727 and also BRIT.  PAT . 687383 is marked.Cosmeticallythey are in very good condition with only light marks on the objectiveouter rims due to wear caused by placing in an out of the case. Thesolid rubber pad mounted on the centre hinge is of considerable assistance forthe spectacle wearer, making contact with the forehead, allowing spectacles stillto be worn when using the binoculars. Alsothe eyecups slide to a forward position so that they are in line with thisrubber supportingpad. Non spectacle users will have noproblems with the eyecups whichjust slide back to the closed position. The support pad can easily be removedif necessary.Opticallythese binoculars are excellent giving a bright and sharp image ( 20 mm ocularsfitted to this model ) with no damage to any of the lens’s / prism’s and thecollimation is correct . Reverse viewing shows no signs of any fungus or any debrisand the coatings of the binocular are in an unmarked condition and there is nodioptre trim as that would be taken care of in the spectacle prescription.Theseare a very RARE pair of Ross binoculars and with this innovative design whichis outstanding  from a users point ofview , will also I am sure enhance anycollection .
