YOU ARE BIDDING ON:
This is a rare set of cased British Barr and Stroud G.K.5 Naval Deck Mounted Binoculars, in good condition with excellent vision. I understand that this specific model, would have been mounted on the deck of a Royal Navy warship and it’s primary use was for acquiring the bearings of gun targets.
They are marked ‘Barr & Stroud Ltd. Binocular Type G.K.5. No.766 A.P.No 1947A British Patent No. 435220/1934 ‘ This is on a brass plate affixed to the base of the binoculars.  There is a brass plate on the storage box which reads ‘Barr & Stroud Ltd Binocular Type G.K.5, No 334. A.P. 1947 British Patent No 435220/34. The right hand tube outer lens case has the imprint No 45.
All the mechanisms appear to work smoothly, including the filters for each lens.The black painted body work is in very good order, with small amounts of rubbed paint through use. This is the original paint, and as such is in amazing condition considering its age and the fact that it is more than likely well used.
  The original fully functional geared mounting plate is also included. 
Overall I would describe them as mechanically and cosmetically very good.
The optics are are in excellent condition, without any damage, with little to no dust and no fungi from what I can see.  
. The coated objective lenses and the eyepiece lens assemblies are all excellent, without any issue at all. The eyepieces are focused individually, as is the norm with most military binoculars.  A vertical linear reticule, to aid the acquisition of bearings, is visible in the right eyepiece. 
They come complete with their original fitted wooden mahogany storage trunk with heavy brass fittings. 
Unfortunately there is no key to the case, but the spring loaded clasps do work perfectly.

These binoculars are very hard to find in this condition and would make a fantastic addition to any collection!
