Whilst it is truly amazing looking at images taken by other astronomers, NASA and the likes, there is nothing like looking up at a dark starry night. Looking at the rings of Saturn, the moons of Jupiter, how they change across nights. Loosing your self in the even more massive amount of stars in the Pleiades than you ever imagined! Best on another night, the powdery crater filled dusty landscapes of the moon, in which this telescope particularly excels. It really reminds you of actually how small we are, how far things are away and just how much of it there is out there! This telescope takes quite a lot of getting to know, how it works & functions. More for the serious star gazer, it can take quite a while to set up. Best is to be able to set it up once and leave it, returning at your will and pleasure. I put some small marks (counter sunk vortex ) in the decking so I could swiftly move it in and out of position. An amazing telescope for the price. Bringing light, knowledge, wonderment and enlightenment into any home! Versatile 6″ (153mm) reflector telescope and sturdy equatorial (EQ) mount and tripod. Though the tripod clamps on 2 legs have cracked. Taped up securely with top quality gaffe tape! Certainly not perfect but works, provided the tripod is not raised for long periods of time. Personally I never really used the telescope any higher than the tripods base height. The telescope is just over a metre long and the eye piece at the top, this was never an issue. Some people say of the Orion reflector telescope. If you’ve “graduated” from a small refractor, or you want your first scope to have more light-gathering power than the typical starter scope offers, then step up to the Orion Europa Reflector Telescope. It’s hard to beat this 6″-class equatorial reflector for all-around performance at a great price. The Orion Europa has 150mm-diameter parabolic Newtonian optics (focal length 750mm, f/5) to pull down pleasing images of a rich variety of celestial objects. With the included 10mm Plossl eyepiece (1.25″), you’ll roam detailed lunar landscapes at 75x. Pop in the 25mm Plossl for some deep-sky thrills, where modest 30x power rewards you with never-before-seen (by you) images of nebulas and star clusters framed in a wide circle of starry blackness. With additional (optional) eyepieces or a barlow lens, you can push the power to 150x or more. Metal tube rings fasten the 1.11m long optical tube to the sturdy equatorial mount. The manual slow-motion controls on the Orion Europa telescope lets you centre objects in the viewing field, then manually track their motion. Or, add the optional dual-axis battery powered clock drive power the scope electronically. The Orion mount comes with a precision polar-alignment scope for aligning the telescope to track properly. The adjustable aluminium tripod provides ample stability and the leg braces are hinged at the centre for quick setup and fold-up. A roomy accessory tray is also included. The Orion Europa has high-quality features for such an affordable price, such as an aluminium 65mm rack-and-pinion focuser with two thumbscrews to lock the eyepiece in place, and a four-vane, adjustable secondary mirror support. The 6×30 achromatic crosshair finder scope helps you locate your target. It has easy, spring-loaded X-Y adjustment and a quick-release dovetail bracket. Collimation thumbscrews make occasional alignment of the optics an easy, tool-free procedure.
