A pair of old, probably around the WW1 era, Heath and Co. Ltd. field glasses with a military broad arrow marking, four times magnification? The lenses are quite clear and the alignment is fine, the focus control works smoothly, they are in good working order. Cosmetically they have a few marks in the paintwork but are generally in good condition, no damage, in original condition, not cleaned or painted. The field glasses are well made and quite heavy for their size, on each of the eyepieces are the words ‘Heath & Co. Ltd. Crayford, London. Has a embossed military broad arrow on one side moving tube, and the markings ‘S-4, M2618’ serial number? on the other side. Comes with the original leather strap and leather case with strap which has the makers name ‘Heath & Co.Ltd. Manufacturing Opticians, Crayford London’, case is in fair/good condition and is velvet lined. The case belt loops are missing and the name Arculus is hand written in the leather (see photo number twelve), I believe they belonged to Sir Ronald Arculus at one time. Still quite usable, a clear image but not as magnified as similar sized modern binoculars, would make good film or play props.
