When Nikon brought out the updated E2 series binoculars a decade or so ago the 7×35 was dropped from the range. However, they had produced a small number of the previous 7x35Es with their latest, green tinged multicoatings. Very rare indeed: you could wait 5 or 10 years before another turns up on ebay. Zeiss trials in the 80s showed that a handheld 7x binocular actually revealed more detail than an 8x one as the extra brightness, steadiness and depth of field more than compensates for the slight gain in power. I’ve always thought 7×35 is the best format for a general purpose binocular and can’t understand why the format has been so little used by the top manufacturers. In any event, this is the best 7×35 ever produced.

Condition: light marks of use (see photos). Optically crystal clear, viewed from either end, with no internal nasties such as dust, fungus or prism haze. No marks on lens surfaces (naked eye inspection). Focusing mechanism perfectly smooth with no soft spots, notchiness or backlash. Dioptre adjustment smooth and secure. Bending bar smooth and firm. Rubber eye cups supple and without cracks. The case has a spot where the fabric has rubbed through on the inside (last photo).

Performance. Possibly the most satisfying view of any binocular I’ve used (300+ ebay sales). Pin sharp across the entire field of view with accurate, well saturated colour. Eye relief is perfectly pitched: I can see the the full field of view with (fairly thin lensed) glasses, but even without glasses there’s no tendency to kidney beaning or blackouts. They’re perfectly usable in both modes with the eyepiece rubber folded down, which saves a lot of fiddling.

Included: binocular, soft case.

Postage: UK Special delivery – insured and signed for. You will receive them within two days of payment – possibly the next day if payment’s made early enough. Tracking details on ebay as soon as I’ve posted them. They will be very well packed; 350+ binoculars have so far arrived safely with no problems! Please note that ebay now impose a 10% levy on postage, which is included in the estimated cost.

International bidders welcome. Many of my binocular sales have been overseas. To simplify things I have quoted what I hope is the most expensive possible worldwide rate, but will refund the difference immediately through Paypal if the actual cost is lower to your destination. It will weigh approximately 1100g, be sent Royal Mail tracked & signed for, and insured for 250. You can check likely costs at: https://www.royalmail.com/price-finder. Please note that ebay now impose a 10% levy on postage, which is included in the estimated cost.

Possibly my last ebay optical sale as I’ve pretty well sold off my collection and am not planning to extend it. Thanks to previous buyers, and good luck if you bid.
