Up for sale are my Nikon SE 10×42 porroprism binoculars (aka Superior E or Premier SE). If you’rereading this you’ll probably be aware of the pretty much legendary status ofthis model, but if not, have a look on the Better View Desired website, whereit was designated as Reference Standard for high power binoculars: https://betterviewdesired.com/Nikon-10X42-Superior-Es.phpFor more opinions, see Birdforum. The binoculars come complete with strap, rainguard, objectivelens caps, case, and box (all originals). Optically and mechanically the binoculars are in absolutelyexcellent condition, with to my eyes perfect collimation. Cosmetically theyshow signs of very light use. There’s a tiny amount of paint loss on the bridge by the hinge, and the eyecups show slight wear from being folded up and down (most users won’t need to do this but I had a period when I sometimes wore glasses and sometimes didn’t), but that’s about it.
I’ve owned them from new and have always considered them my luxury pair. As such, they’ve been a bit mollycoddled and have never been bumped or exposed to rain or sand/dust. My reason for selling is that I’ve just got too many binoculars and my plan is to end up with one all-purpose model – probably an 8×42 with excellent close focus capabilities (for looking at insects). Anyway, enough of that….
