For sale; a pair of reverse porro-prism Minolta Compact 10×25 binoculars, field of view 5.4 degrees. There are some signs of wear to the outer casing as pictured. Optical surfaces appear to be in good condition, with just a couple of small, faint marks on the eyepieces. Internally, there is the usual ‘light dust/haze’ typical of older binoculars, but they remain in usable condition. Indeed, I used them to observe the recent lunar eclipse, and managed to spot the Andromeda galaxy through them a couple of nights later. There is a blob/flake of something in the left eyepiece (where does this debris come from?) which I’ve tried to show in the last photo. It is not visible in use, so is only of nuisance value; it is also probably smaller than it appears, since it is magnified by the objective lens….Collimation of the binoculars seems to be very good, at least for my eyes (no double stars or moons!). The binoculars also have a very useful close-focus of 6-7 feet; you can take them to the art gallery and admire Rubens’ brush-work, if you so desire! Centre-hinge, focusing and right-eyepiece dioptre adjustment all work as intended. The original strap pictured in the first photo is included; I took it off to sort out a twist, and forgot to put it back on for the photos! Reason for selling? I’ve settled on a pair of Minolta Compact 8×21 binoculars for general use, which are not only even more compact than the 10×25’s but also have more room for my big ol’ nose between the eyepieces! When I need the extra reach and aperture of a pair of tens, I have my faithful Zeiss Jenoptems, which are about as big a pair as I can hold still these days….
