Heath & Co Ltd, Crayford London. Military Field Binoculars
Please see photos for these well used 1st World War Field Glasses (Binoculars), as they have some wear.There is no strap but they certainly deserve a strap and case because they appear to be very good optically.
When they came to us they were not in a good state.However with some cleaning using optical cleaner on inside and outside of the lenses and elsewhere, plus some fine (minimal) lubrication, they now work well. The left hand objective lens appears stuck and will not unscrew. This did not prevent cleaning the lens.
These are quite heavy for their size (754 g), making them good for steady operation. There is no separate adjustment for the right eye piece as in more modern units. However, I found this was not a problem even though I have eyes with different focus issues.Please see photos for wear, the symbol and number,plus other comments in the condition report.Starting this at a low price hoping these will raise a little more for Oxfam!
