One of the last breed of all American made and assembled Telescopes.

With its original Japanese accessory’s.

In superb condition Optically, mechanically and cosmetically.

Bad points – it rains to often.

Good points – there are quite a few.

Model LX50, dual axis driven with 4 correction speeds via the hand-box control.

Non goto, in my book a real bonus for this age telescope. Set the tripod & wedge roughly north, put forks and OTA on wedge, turn on, enjoy.

These Telescopes are very rare, this is a rare opportunity to acquire a collectable, un-tampered with, American icon.

Amazing condition for around 20 years old with no metal corrosion at all.

Meade used to make a point of using only virgin grade alloy in the construction of there telescopes, and not re-cycled alloy as used today. This is to keep check on the quality of the alloy and is an unknown quantity with recycled metals.

Very crisp, rich views, some of the best views of the Moon and Jupiter i have ever seen, a visual observers dream.

Stunning coatings but very hard to photograph.

Fantastic set up, very rare, will give much larger scopes a run for there aperture on solar system. Still impressive on deep-sky.

And judge for yourself, a mighty handsome beast !

Some of these OTAs were removed from the forks for mounting to a GEM ?

Why ? I can see it with an SCT at f10 to image, but a MAK at f15 ???

The fork mount is excellent and tracks superb, objects remain in view for ages.

Can be run on 6x AA batteries, and these last a long time as no high speed motors robbing there power.

Solid Telescope, not a tinny toy, built to be used and enjoyed and a solid investment, not many of these around, as they were a lot more expensive than the 8″ SCT in the same range ! So most folk bought the 8″ ! Never mind.

Good scope to use if you have light pollution as this design is most happy viewing the Planets at high power, and the Planets are visible from even heavily light polluted skies. Of course it likes deep sky & dark skies too !

Semi portable for one person with a good strong back, a doddle to lift with 2, it is quite heavy.

This model is considered the best of the 2, Classic LX series MAK7s that Meade made.

A classic Telescope, and if you are like me, and like USA made Telescopes, a keeper. This will last a lifetime if you look after it.

I will consider a “buy it now” for “sensible” offers  or a part x up-to my asking price.

I can ship in 2 large consignments hence the high costs. It is a heavy scope & set-up.
