I bought this new with the LXD55 GOTO mount. Immediately after buying the scope I built a custom case from 10mm plywood. The OTA has been stored in this ever since.
The OTA comes with the original scope rings and dovetail bar that were supplied. It also comes with the finder scope bracket, which I modified to take a 50mm finder. The finder has been moved to my new scope and is not included.
I have made several improvements to the telescope to improve its performance and correct manufacturing faults.
I have installed computer designed baffles to the tube to block stray light and increase contrast to the scope images. the tube interior has also been lined with rough surface foam sheet to reduce tube currents. The tube has then been finished with a flat black paint to reduce internal light reflection.
The mirror has been remounted using low expansion, rubber adhesive to prevent mirror deformation. The mirror is securely fixed and has not moved since mounting. The original mirror clips supplied deformed the mirror and produced triangular star images. I have placed a collimating spot at the centre of the mirror to aid in optical alignment.
The mirror collimating screws have had thick nylon washers fitted to prevent binding, which makes collimating the scope much easier.
I have replaced the front collimating screws, which require a screwdriver to adjust, with custom made finger screws, allowing easy collimation of the diagonal.
I have replaced the threaded 1 1/4″ eyepiece holder with a custom aluminium adaptor, which makes it easier to swap between 2″ and 1 1/4″ eyepieces.
The scope comes with all original parts supplied when purchased including the focuser tube extension, T-mount adaptor, 2″ and 1 1/4″ eyepiece holders.
I have also included the original front collimation screws, front cap and mirror clips.
The supplied custom case also converts to an observing table using the supplied legs (see photo’s).

This telescope has been designed for wide field deep sky observing and imaging. I have used it at dark sky sites and the views are fantastic. Because I live in a heavily light polluted area, I’ve switched to a lighter refractor and have not used this scope for several years.

Due to the weight of the scope and case the scope is collection only. I am prepared to deliver the scope within a reasonable distance from Hyde, Thameside for petrol costs. Please contact me for details.
