This is my Meade LX200 GPS Telescope with Autostar II GoTo hand controller. I will say first off that I bought this some years ago and have used it only a few times and am into other hobbies so am reluctantly selling to fund other projects. It is in perfect working order and to demonstrate that without having to set everything up upon collection I have featured some videos below and plenty of photos.
This telescope is about as large as most people could handle on their own in the field, it is quite a weight and will be collection only.
I am a complete novice and am unfamiliar with all of its controls as it has been some time since using it although, all manuals are supplied. The auto alignment, GPS fix and electronic focusing all work perfectly as does the goto functions. The last time I used the telescope was around two and half years ago, I remember viewing M51 and a dumbbell nebulae which were amazing to see.
I understand that there is more than one version of this scope and this one is clearly labelled UHTC. This is the GPS version, so much of the work is done for you in setting it up and aligning. It also includes Meade’s Autostar II handset which is easy to use – just dial-in what you want to look at, press ‘go’ and it automatically points the ‘scope there (assuming you’ve aligned correctly!). The telescope has Meade’s built-in motorised drive which assists brilliantly in tracking. You can connect the scope to meades online system and update firmware and object database which I did do when I first got it.
There are a few little marks here and there but they are small, the handheld mount holder is a bit loose. The buttons on the controller all work perfectly and the overall condition is very good.
I have also included the cable to connect the telescope/autostar to a PC or Laptop which has a USB converter. There is plenty of free software available that you can use to control the telescope from your computer including meads own software.
