MEADE LX-200R 12 30cm TELESCOPE OTA w/PRIMARY MIRROR,LACKS CORRECTOR PLATEOffered here is the optical tube assembly (OTA) with primarymirror from a 12 Meade LX-200R Schmidt-Cassegrain telescope.  The Meade LX-200 series has been a mainstayof the serious amateur astronomer for many years.  The LX-200R (later LX-200ACF for Advanced Coma Free) used adifferent optical design to minimize coma at the edges of the field.  The optical figures were similar toRichey-Chretien optics, and were very effective at reducing coma.This OTA has been removed from the Meade fork mount.  The corrector plate with secondary mirrorand all of the focussing mechanics were removed before I acquired it.  Potentially a challenging but interestingproject!  DIMENSIONS:         Length O/A:  66 cm / 26 ins                                      Diameter:      34.6 cm / 13.6 insWEIGHT:                   ca. 15 kg / 33 lbs in totalSHIPPING:    Owing to the size and weight of thisitem, local collection is the preferred option.  However, I will ship, and the postage rates quoted assume this.  Basic rates listed, other services (faster, tracked, etc.) available.  International rate shown is for North America, other locations may be different.
CONDITION:  Tubeassembly in good order, no dents or distortion.  Aluminium castings at top and bottom in similarly good condition,no damage.  There are light scratches ontube paintwork visible where tube was removed from fork mounting.  Primary mirror in good condition, a few minorscratches/marks in the aluminizing. Note that I have not attempted to clean this delicate front-surfacemirror.  Undoubtedly many of the marksvisible in the photos are surface dust and will remove with a careful clean. N.B.  There isa white deposit visible on some of the interior photos; this is siliconegrease, applied by manufacturer to lubricate, and avoid unwanted mirrorshift.  Also note that thefocussing knobs and internal focussing gears are missing, but the tubeend cap (slightly dented) is included.*** THIS OTA IS NOT COMPLETE ***, but would form thebasis of an interesting project for a light bucket, or with the addition of anew secondary mirror, a specialised imager or photometric collector.
