This is a Meade ETX90 Schmidt-Cassegrain Telescope with tripod, red-dot finder, Super Plssl 32mm eyepiece giving x39magnification and several other extras listed below. Bought new four yearsago (499) and in good working order and condition, for the aperture it givestremendous views of the moon, planets and deep sky objects with full go-tofacilities, while being easily transportable. Can be either used on the tripod in altazimuth or equatorial mode or canbe used as a table-top telescope in alt-az mode without the tripod. Only selling to help fund a move to a largertelescope. Autostar Computer Controller Electronics include the Meade #497 AutoStar keypad with over 30,000 objectlibrary, periodic error correction, and easy to use red dot viewfinder withadjustable brightness control and blink controlled from the keypad. TheAutostar may be linked to a PC using an optionally available software and cableconnector set, allowing the telescope to be controlled via a laptop or otherPC. The telescope is conveniently internally powered by 8 (user-supplied) AAbatteries which will run it for approximately 20 hours under normal usage.
Standard equipment includes a very stable Meade Model 884 field tripod withchrome plated tubular steel legs. For the astrophotographer this tripodconveniently has a built in wedge which can be used for polar alignment of thetelescope. Additional accessories on this fully equipped model include a highperformance Meade 26mm Series 4000 1.25″ Super Plossl eyepiece, and MeadeAutoStar Suite Astronomer Edition Software and Instructional DVD to locateobjects in the night sky, print star maps, and learn more about the use anduses of your new telescope.
A telescope is only as good as its mount and this mechanically sophisticatedmodel includes an extremely rigid dual aluminum fork substructure with highimpact ABS shell. The similarly advanced optical tube design incorporates aunique flip mirror mechanism, allowing light to either go to the comfortable 90degree observing position of the eyepiece or the built in camera attachmentport at the rear of the tube. Optional adapters are available for many popularcamera models.
