For auction is a Meade ETX70 telescope. I have just acquired it as a hand-me-down but it has not been used for a couple of years. The optics are fine, but the motor is erratic – the up/down gears work fine, but the left/right gears sometimes do not respond properly to the autostar (one press will send the scope moving continuously around, with no way to stop the motion except to turn off the autostar!) Hence the listing as for parts / faulty.
There is a small bit of damage to the side of the autostar (visible in the photos), but I have tested it and it still works.
The battery compartment is missing, but the power still works.
The tripod is in perfect working order, and comes with its own carry bag.
Lenses included are a (not Meade) 40mm eyepiece, and a Meade MA9mm eyepiece. The 26mm that came with the telescope is missing, unfortunately. As is the manual.
The telescope comes with the original box.
Despite the problems with the motor, this is still a very good telescope, and can still be used perfectly well as a spotting scope. Ideal for a beginner!
