***Apologies to any watchers disappointed by the previous listing being pulled early before a first bid. I thought my Quark was going wrong and was suddenly faced with the possibility of going from two to zero solar scopes. It turns out it was the power supply failing and providing some but not enough power. Problem resolved so the Lunt is back up for sale.***

This much liked Lunt 60 is up for sale as I’ve opted for a Quark + one OTA day/night setup for travelling. I’ve really enjoyed the viewing quality with this scope and as a grab and go it’s compact, doesn’t need power and is very quick to tune (unlike the Quark on the last two points). 

As the second owner I don’t have its paper work but optically and mechanically everything is fine. I’ve included as much detail as possible in the photos. It appears to have some blacking paint rubbed off inside the back end. It was like that when I got it and assume it could be overzealous rubbing to clean it. There’s also some paint chipped off the front of the objective thread. That’s a mystery. There are no scratches or marks anywhere near the lens itself. I had the opportunity of trying a full 60mm front double stack filter for a few days and can confirm the threading itself is unaffected as it screwed on, stayed in place and unscrewed perfectly. Very nice views incidentally but as the image was a bit darker, needed an extra tuning step, added weight and would have cost another 2k I decided it wasn’t for me.

The low starting price is on account of the cosmetic imperfections, which personally I think look worse in the photos than real life, but I prefer to point out everything I think a buyer might want to be aware of. 

A couple of pictures are attached that I took with it and a NexImage Burst Mono. They’re intended to show: 1 I’m not a very good astrophotographer, 2 It works well despite that.

Includes shown mounting rail, Sol Searcher and fly case. If the rail isn’t used it can be mounted on a standard photographic tripod (providing it’s stable enough).

For your own safety and to avoid the surprise of not being able to see anything other than the sun through this scope please don’t bid/buy if you’re not familiar with the purpose of H-Alpha devices and their safe methods of use.
