GENUINE LEGENDARY GERMAN DIENSTGLASMilitary Binoculars10 x 50beh + Issued and used in WWIIprobably 1943 (as per case stamp)

A fully working example of these legendary classic military officer’s binoculars’beh’ code indicates manufacture by Ernst Leitz of WeztlarSerialno: 414733 The ‘+’ symbol denotes they were specially produced and intended for use in extreme cold temperaturesGenerally nice condition overall; grainedbody covering fully intact, shrinking back slightly at edge; metalwork has worn edges with black paint loss, though there is no significant damage such as dents or cracksTheeyepieces focus and adjust completely independently for maximum sharpness for all users; lenses look quite clean and clear with no scratches or damage; little dust and one or two very small fungus edge spots (this has zero effect on the brilliantly sharp optical performance)The right-hand view has a reticle scale visible at bottom, either side of a vertical centre line, with ’20’ marked in middle of each and markings at 5 meter intervals Carefully checked at a variety of distances and the clarity and especially contrast are very impressive; optically these historic glasses are still brilliantly pin-sharp, as would be expected from Ernst Leitz (Weztlar)Supplied complete with a good, very solid vintage case; this is stamped 1943, with another embossed stamp alongside, so it is likely to be the original case as issued to the German officer during the war (no caps)
