THESE

LEITZ / LEICA 7x42BA BINOCULARS
ARE SUPPLIED WITH ORIGINAL LEATHER STRAP.
They are in reasonable condition with two main problems: binoculars need some attention to the rubber armouring which has become loose on the front (Please see photographs). This may take some ingenuity as the rubber does not seem to fit exactly into the small recess of the body. I am sure some handy person will have no difficulty, but I just want to point out that it is not just as easy as applying glue and pressing it together. Also, there are some strange colour effects within the front lens coating, but these do not seem to affect the viewing. The soft rubber eyecups need replacing ideally by green ones. The correct eyecups (Obtainable free of charge from Leica UK on 0207 629 1351) can be simply put on by unscrewing the old ones and screwing on the new ones. Very easy (even for me!!).
Apart from these faults, the binoculars work fine and have an exit pupil size of 6mm ( Designed for low light viewing) due to the large 42mm object lenses.The 7x magnification is perfect for holding steadily in the hands.
This binocular is widely used for birdwatching.
