This Leica TELEVID 77 is a “Ferrari” of spotting scopes, offering a bright, virtually aberration free view from a compact and lightweight (around 2.5kg in its Skua case), shock proof (to 100g’s), corrosion and water resistant telescope. It offers top optical and mechanical quality and is superbly well suited for birding.
The APO is the superior of the two TELEVID 77 models and uses three uncemented lenses, with one lens made from fluorite to provide apochromatic images. The lenses are multi-coated, with the outer lens having a hard protective coat.
This angled viewing version is fitted with the B32xWW widefield eyepiece. The outer lens and eyepiece both have their lens caps.
I believe the scope to be in near perfect condition. The viewing is excellent and the scope has hardly ever been out of its protective Skua case. There is one small scuff mark on the mounting plate.
This lot includes a Swarovski/Manfrotto tripod (weighing around 3.2kg) and a quick release plate for attachment to the scope. There is also a carrying shoulder strap.
My brother has had this kit from new in 2001 but it’s hardly been used during the last 10 years as he’s had to give up birding through ill health.
