Helios Apollo HD 15×70 binoculars, widely considered an excellent choice for astronomy, and highly sought after.
Includes hard case + key, and free postage.
I bought these brand new from First Light Optics in 2014. Only ever used, carefully, by me and always stored in the case. Superb build quality by Helios: waterproof, shockproof, nitrogen-filled. BAK4, multi-coated ‘HD’ lenses so stars are pin sharp with no chromatic aberration. Stargazing is an absolute treat with these.
Very carefully looked after, and in great condition. Couple of superficial scuff marks on the rubber of one barrel (see pic) and one of the eye cup rubbers has slightly separated at the fold line (see pic), but this cosmetic and obviously does not affect performance at all. I wear glasses so usually fold the eyecups back, and only noticed the separation just now when taking these pictures. Price reduced accordingly.The optics however are absolutely A1 perfect.
Individual eyepiece focussing rather than central dial, so focus holds really well whilst observing. Good dioptre adjustment range and plenty of eye relief suitable for glasses wearers like me. Objective lens ends have thread to accept filters if required. Stunning views through these. Bit heavy to hold steady for long with hands for astronomy – many binocular astronomers recommend tripod and pistol grip use. Tripod, pistol grip and attachment bracket available for an additional 40 (+postage).
