German Carl Zeiss Aus Jena 7X50 Binocular Military Type US Cold War Export 1968Click images to enlargeDescriptionGerman Carl Zeiss ‘Aus Jena’ E 7X50 Binocular.This Carl Zeiss ‘Aus Jena’ E 7X50 binocular is in good working condition.They are marked ‘Aus Jena’ and have the Q1 (first quality) symbol on the left hand eyepiece plate and ‘E 7×50’isengraved on the right hand plate. The serial number is ‘3552781’ which dates them to 1968. I believe these are US expost models, which due to some licencing issues with the ‘Zeiss’ brand, were marked ‘Aus Jena’ to avoid infringement. The aluminium body work is in good shape, with some rubbed paint and abrasion on the raised areas consummate with use. The ‘beauty rings’ which screw over the objective lenses, are in good shape as the images show.The internal optics are not damaged but they are hazy. They are still in good collimation and form a decent image, which hints at how excellent they would be if they were cleaned. Both of the anti-reflection coated objective lenses are very good, without and obvious scratches or marks.The eyepieces are focused individually, as is the norm with military binoculars. Both operate and focus very well. The Bakelite eye-cups are both in good shape. The binoculars are complete with their original brown leather case (which is functional but tatty), leather strap and brass fixings.Please see the detailed images provided to fully assess the condition.
