Extremelyrare Carl Zeiss Fussartillerie D.F.3x binoculars only the 6thknownWhen Hans Seeger published his blue book he quoted that this model was not known about until 1990’s and then only two sets were known to exist among collectors. Since then a few more have come to light and earlier this year the 5th set sold on ebay.com.https://www.ebay.com/itm/Ultra-Rare-Zeiss-Jena-3X-Binoculars-Cursive-Fussartilleries-1890-039-s-1-Of-3-Known-/292106219366?hash=item4402e32f66%3Ag%3AfjAAAOSwT-FZBU%7Ed&nma=true&si=vcRoqTDCjg%252Bq2BN%252Br1J6ekmZPHA%253D&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2557This 6th set are in similar condition to the 5th and most certainly better than those shown in the blue book, the website below, and a previous pair that were damaged yet sold in the region of $3500. This latest set to be discovered are in very good original condition. Other than a little rubbing, the original paint is very good. The leather is excellent. One Bakelite eye cup is cracked and has an old repair. I have left these original cups on but replacements can be obtained if required. The lenses and prisms are clean, clear, and collimated with very clear viewing. The oculars focus smoothly. The construction of this model is very interesting for a number of reasons which can be seen in the article on Anna & Terry Vacanis website.https://www.binoculars-cinecollectors.com/html/body_unusual-optics.htmlThe serial number is 222987 dating these to c1909. This would explain why the left hand top plate does not have the D.R.P. engraved because the Zeiss patent had expired. The right hand top plate is inscribed Fussartillerie D.F. 3x with the private number 268. Requiring further research, one objective plate is hand engraved with the number 320046923. This has also been very lightly scratched into the leather but is extremely difficult to see.The binoculars also come with an original leather case which is in fair condition although the clasp is broken and most of the shoulder strap is missing. The same long number has been scratched on the bottom. There is also an original neck strap in very good condition. It is not shown in the photos because it was removed in an attempt to read some hand written information written on it. Almost indistinguishable, they are the details of a Lieutenant in the American Army. Further research is required.
Please note for absolute clarity, that in addition to the honest description made in good faith, the photographs form an integral part of the description and it is incumbent upon the buyer to seek further information if there is any uncertainty about age, condition or functionality.  All parcels will be sent with full insurance and requiring a signature upon delivery.  The full purchase value will be quoted on customs documentation and all import duties will be the sole responsibility of the buyer.
