Excellent rare vintage Carl Zeiss Aus Jena Flektogon M 7X40 W Super S Binocular with original Case.
This rare vintage Carl Zeiss Aus Jena Flektogon M 7X40 W Super S binocular is in excellent condition. This binocular was produced for the US and Canadian market, there the ‘Carl Zeiss’ brand couldn’t be used for legal reasons, hence why it bears the brand ‘aus Jena’.
This wonderful binocular is in virtually mint condition. The body has virtually no signs of use, without any missing or rubbed paint. The eyecups are perfect without any damage. The leather type body covering is totally intact and complete. The fabulous anti-reflection coated optics are very sharp, crisp and clear and provide very good eye relief making them suitable for glasses wearers. The optics are spotlessly clean, clear and totally scratch and fungus free. When viewed through in reverse, internally, the binocular is spotlessly clean. In addition, it is in perfect collimation. The only *very* minor blemish I can find is cleaning marks on the coating of the left hand objective. I must stress these are marks on the coating and not scratches. As far as I can tell, this has caused no visible effect to the images provided. I have tried to show this on one of the pictures provided.
As you would expect, these binoculars provide stunning pin-sharp images. The mechanics of this binocular are excellent too, with all adjustments being smooth and without stiffness.
From the Zeiss serial number, these date from 1968.
They come complete with the original red velvet-lined leather case, and three leather straps and fixings as shown. (One strap for the binocular, the other two are for the case). The case and straps are also in excellent condition, as shown in the supplied images.
Overall a very rare, useable and highly collectable Zeiss binocular in virtually mint condition. These don’t come up very often and hardly ever in this condition, so don’t miss out!
