Edwardian Vintage Leather Cased8x25 MonocularByDollond Of London & ParisCirca 1920An excellent vintage English 8×25 monocular by and engraved to “Dollond London & Paris” produced before 1929 when Dollond merged with Aitchison to become the Dollond & Aitchison we know today. Peter Dollond formed his company in Vine Street near Hatton Garden London on 21st April 1750 to make optical instruments and in 1750 is appointed optician to His Majesty King George 111 and the Duke of York. 1851 recognised for excellence at the great exhibition, during made
many fine telescopes and binoculars for the British Forces. Combined with Aitchison in 1927 to become the company of Dollond & Aitchison known on the high street today.Many of these fine optics are in use today as spotting scopes for rifle shooting or of a handy size to fit in pocket or handbag at horse racing days out.
We have included multiple pictures which form an integral and largest part of our description, please study them carefully and feel free to ask any questions you may feel relevant. All our items are antique or collectable with wear commensurate with age and use, please take this into account when purchasing.
