DOCTER/CARL ZEISS JENA 10×50 DEKAREM BINOCULAR & ACCESSORIES
A lovely example of this very highly regarded binocular, which was made in Germany in the early 1990s.
It is one of the best x10 Porro prism models I have ever looked through and I have tested all the others. It is a very wide angle binocular, giving lovely panoramic views.
Docter bought the binocular side of the Carl Zeiss Jena company after the fall of the Berlin Wall, and continued to make many of the Zeiss models with their own branding. My experience is that optical coatings improved under Docter as technology progressed, creating better and more contrasting images.
Furthermore, this Docter model has the added advantage of having fold-down rubber eyecups, a feature not present in the original Zeiss version.
This is a rare binocular, with perhaps only a few hundred of these Docter 10×50 Dekarems (with rubber eyecups) ever being made. Docter binoculars of any sort are highly sought after and expensive, as you will see if you carry out an eBay search.

CONDITIONLENSES AND PRISMS – very good condition inside and out, with no detectable scratches, chips, haze, fungus or any other significant problems. I can detect a tiny black dot in one of the barrels which is only visible on reverse viewing. Perfectly collimated (aligned) with no double vision.
BINOCULAR BODY – Very good condition with some small marks from previous use. The small cap that used to sit at the far end of the bending bar is missing, but this is purely cosmetic. A previous owner has written their postcode on one of the prism plates using a pen that is visible under ultra-violet light, but this it not always obvious in normal light.
ACCESSORIES – Good condition, with the case showing some obvious wear from previous use.
