For sale is my Celestron C5 XLT with the advanced NexStar SE computerised table top mount. I originally bought the setup about 2 years ago, as two separate telescope packages. The Field Tripod was sold separately. The OTA has rarely seen the light of day or even night for that matter. The telescope is an f10 Schmidt Cassegrain. C5 describes the 5″ mirror diameter. The XLT as far as I know represents eXtra Light Transmission and describes the blue/plum colour coatings seen in some of the pictures. The Cassegrain format is great for planetary observations as well as wide field views by applying a widely available tele-negative reducer lens.
The combined weight including the eyepieces is a truly portable 5.5Kg. This Nexstar drive base can be Equatorially mounted.
The computerised mount tracks the sky even with basic alignment with the included hand control.
It has a 40,000 object database with 200 user-definable points of interest and expandable information on over 200 objects.
The custom database lists all the most famous deep-sky objects by name and catalog number; the most beautiful double, triple and quadruple stars; variable stars; solar system objects and asterisms.
The drive base includes a camera control feature and shutter release cable that allows you to remotely take a series of exposures using your digital SLR camera.
