                            CARL  ZEISS ( WEST ) 10 X 50 PORRO BINOCULARS “OBERKOCHEN ”                                  JAHRHUNDERTGLAS  (   GLASS OF THE CENTURY )   This unique and high quality centre focus binocularmanufactured in West Germany  at Oberkochen by Carl Zeiss was regarded asthe Glass of the Century .  It wasconsidered to be the highest quality and best- engineered porro prism binocularever made ..hence the above title . They have a SUPERB solid leather case  which has a top quality strap +   lanyard and original covers for theeyepieces also the objective lens are  protectedwith original  covers. The serial numberis 817368 which indicated as1960 being the date of production Cosmeticallythey are Excellent with only very minor usage marks on the rims of theobjectives )however they do not detract from the overall excellent appearanceof these fabulous binoculars . Optically they are superb,  and the image produced is undoubtedly in aclass of its own.  High brightness, pinsharp and good colour contrast  combinedwith a exceptional wide field of 130 yds / 1000yds produces a stunningpanoramic picture. All the original coatings are free of scratches and nocleaning marks which must be a testament to the previous owner considerablecare and attention.   All focussing is very smooth in operation, the uniquepositioning of the central focus wheel falls nicely to hand and the collimationof these binoculars is perfect.  Reverseviewing reveals a spotless interior with no signs of fungus or other debris andno signs of any damage to either the prism / lenses The image produced on theseoptics are really outstanding and this is a fine example of the best glassesproduced during this era.  I am 100% sure that the new owner will be delightedwith the overall condition and the performance of these wonderful binocularsand will thoroughly enjoy using them .
