Carl Zeiss Jena “Deltrentis” 8 x 30 Binoculars serial 2578276 (1953.) These binoculars date from the early post-WW2 era and will appeal to collectors who prefer the traditional Carl Zeiss binocular patterns, later revised by Zeiss DDR to permit mass production in bigger numbers. Individual-eyepiece focusing also has a strong following, having always been the choice of serious users and professionals such as the military and police, simpler and more robust than centre focusing, usefully lighter in weight  and with the added benefit of being able to be left focused, instantly ready to use. The Deltrentis was therefore included, like many other individual focus models, in the Zeiss premium “Q1” range.
These particular binoculars are in very sound condition for their age. Optics are crystal-clear, no fungus, haze or dust. On reverse viewing all that I could see were a few tiny grease/oil spots on the edge of prisms, in no way affecting viewing. Individual eyepieces both focus smoothly and collimation is perfect, still as per the factory setting. All lenses, prisms and the light blue Zeiss T optical coatings are free from scratches, chips and cracks, not even any cleaning marks that I could see so very well cared for. The binoculars are really very nice to use, feeling light at just 455g. Cosmetics are also in very good order as the photos show.
The binoculars come with their original top loading case, leather stained but the case itself sound and undamaged with  good red velvet lining. The case has its shoulder strap and I will provide and fit a new black leather lanyard before despatch. A nice original Zeiss glass from the twilight of the classic era.The binoculars will be carefully packed in a well padded box for dispatch and sent fully insured.
