Carl Zeiss Delactis 8 x 40 with Case.The case is inscribed E B Powell, Rifle Brigade. The Binoculars are engraved Lt Col E B Powell.These belonged to Lt Col E B Powell, a veteran of the Boer War where he served as a Major and WW1 where he served as an LT Colonel. According to records Powell was mentioned in dispatches on two occasions as well as being awarded the DSO and the French Legion of Honour.As you would expect from an item of this nature, there is wear commensurate to them being approx 90 years old. Serial number points to them having been made around 1924.There are some dots and marks on the inner lenses.Fastening Strap is missing from the front of the case (though included inside).Wear and tear to the binoculars themselves.The binoculars seem to focus well, based on a basic test.This is an execptional item, that can be firmly attributed to a highly decorated Senior Officer.
