Carl Zeiss Jena DDR “Jenoptem” 10 x 50W multi-coated binoculars serial number 5430156 (1980). This is a pair of genuine East German Zeiss binoculars, clearly marked “DDR” and bearing the correct 7-digit serial number. They feature Zeiss’s world-beating T3M multi-coated optics for maximum light transmission and optimal viewing even in difficult conditions. In terms of overall condition, this example is among the very best remaining, bearing in mind that production ended 25 years ago so there are no “new” Zeiss DDR binoculars now on sale. But they really are in mint, close to new condition with absolutely no faults or damage optically, crystal-clear internally and nicely collimated – i.e. no double image. They focus very smoothly producing a bright, pin-sharp image, Carl Zeiss optical excellence at its finest. And the cosmetic condition is also close to new, with the binoculars having hardly ever been used. But they are of course not actually “new” and very close examination will reveal some tiny blemishes to the paintwork. But the fact remains that it would be very difficult to find a better example. They are sold with their original solid-leather red velvet lined case together with its leather strap and black leather binocular lanyard. Dimensions length 16 cms, width 20 cms and height 6 cms. Weight of binoculars without case1 kg. Angle of view 7.3 deg. or 128m at 1000m. They will be carefully packed in a well-padded box and sent fully insured. I am happy to post world-wide.
