Carl Zeiss Jena DDR Deltrentis individual eyepiece focussing 8×30 multi-coated binoculars serial number 5669370 (1982.)  This is a pair of genuine East German Zeiss binoculars, bearing the correct 7-digit serial number and clearly marked “DDR” and also featuring T3M multi-coated optics for enhanced viewing in difficult lighting conditions. Like the centre focus Deltrintem, the Deltrentis was one of  Zeiss DDR’s premium range of binoculars, bearing the prestigeous “Q1” quality mark. The Deltrentis, however, was produced in relatively small numbers and was mainly intended for specialist and professional users such as the police, military, engineers, architects etc. The binoculars also incorporate a range finding reticle in the right eyepiece. For further information please see the page from the 1985 Zeiss catalogue reproduced among the photos. And some people enjoy the simplicity of the individual eyepiece focusser which can be left at a person’s own settings, always ready for immediate use. (This is why most military and naval binoculars are of this type.)  This example is in very good condition both optically and cosmetically. The binoculars have no faults or damage optically and are crystal-clear internally. They are nicely collimated (no double image) and both eyepieces work very smoothly. They produce a  bright, pin-sharp image, Carl Zeiss optical excellence at very finest. Cosmetic condition is very good but not perfect with some light wear to the paint – please look carefully at the photos. They come with their special luxury top-loading red velvet lined solid leather case (shared the Deltrintem), in very good condition, together with leather case strap and  black leather binocular lanyard. A very special and uncommon classic binocular ready to give many  years of use and enjoyment. Binoculars will be carefully packed in a well-padded box and sent fully insured.
