Carl Zeiss Jena DDR “Binoctem” 7×50 multi-coated wide-angle binoculars serial number 6506978 (1987). This is a pair of genuine East German Zeiss binoculars, clearly marked “DDR” and bearing the correct 7-digit serial number. The Binoctem was one of the premium range of Zeiss DDR binoculars, superior to the similar Jenoptem.  And this late example, made shortly before production ceased in 1991, also benefits from Zeiss’s world-beating T3M multi-coated optics for maximum light transmission and optimal viewing even in difficult conditions. These binoculars are in mint, close to new condition. They have no faults or damage optically, are crystal-clear internally and nicely collimated – i.e. no double image or eyestrain. And cosmetically they are  virtually like new with unmarked paint and leather. They function perfectly with smooth centre  focus and right diopter adjustment,  producing a bright,  pin-sharp image, Carl Zeiss optical excellence at its finest. In short, they must be among the finest remaining Zeiss Binoctems, a true classic binocular made in Jena from 1931. And they would certainly make a fine addition to any collection of the mark. They are sold with their original solid-leather grey velvet lined case together with case shoulder strap and black leather binocular lanyard. For full specification please see page from Zeiss 1985 catalogue reproduced among the photos. They will be carefully packed in a well-padded box and sent fully insured. I am happy to post world-wide.
