A few areas of paint loss. A small ding on one outer metal objective rim.
The main focus wheel and right diopter adjustment operate smoothly and correctly. Glass elements in both barrels are undamaged.The views are stunning. These binoculars are collimated for prolonged fatigue – free viewing (no double image)I found the collimation to be ‘very good’ with no eyestrain.These are a superb pair of binoculars made by Carl Zeiss the world famous German optical manufactures.The red velvet lined brown binocular case shows wear but is also in a good working condition. It has a green wide fitting nylon strap. The black leather binocular strap is in a very good condition.
Constructed of brass, steel and aluminium, covered with black lacquer and leather, Bakelite eyepiece surrounds. Wide angle of view to aid easy object location.The Jenoptem 8×30 has been a long standing ‘classic’ binocular for many years!These binoculars are both collectible as they are usable. Binoculars will be well packed/padded.
Beware of Far Eastern produced Carl Zeiss copies which have a six digit serial number instead of the normal seven. These copies also have a groove running along the circumference of the large central focus wheel. They are inferior in both build quality and optical performance. Thank you
