VERY RARE CARL ZEISS Jena 8 x 20 ‘Feldstrecher’ Binoculars with Original Leather Case Serial No. 34440 Dated early 1900s (probably 1901-1905)
Superb antique Carl Zeiss Jena binoculars in lovely original condition with perfect optics. The binoculars come with original leather case and binocular strap. The binoculars have Bakelite eyepieces and twin focusing controls and a painted brass and leather covered main body. 
They have the Carl Zeiss Jena logo on the left barrel together with the DRP stamp (Deutches Reich’s Patent). They were originally made for the Russian market and so have inscriptions on the barrels in early in Russian language giving the model type and magnification. The left barrel inscription translates as “of Carl Zeiss” and the right barrel inscription as “F.S. Model” (Feldstrecher) with “Magn 8 times” written underneath.

The binoculars are in superb condition for their age with very clear optics and very little dust ingress. The Bakelite eyepieces are also in very good condition without any cracks or chips. There is very slight play in focusing on left side, but nothing serious and still fully functional.  There is some age related paint wear in a few places together with some general light wear to the leather covered body mostly on the underside. Original leather case has signs of age to the exterior but is still in sound condition. There is no shoulder strap for the case.

Purchasers in countries not covered by the ebay Global Shipping Program will be required to arrange their own courier service to collect the item from the UK on their behalf (please see package dimensions for shipping cost quotation purposes).
Please note this item was originally offered for sale a number of weeks  ago and has been relisted due to complications with international shipping arrangements offered in the earlier listing. It is for this reason International shipping is only being offered through ebay’s GSP or for the buyer to make their own shipping/collection arrangements if the GSP is not available to their destination country. In addition, buyers from countries covered by the GSP are also welcome to make their own shipping arrangements to collect from the UK if they prefer not to use ebay’s Global Shipping Program service.
