Carl Zeiss Fussartillerie DF 8 Xsloping shoulder binocularsThese early Zeiss sloping shoulder binoculars arein decent original condition. The leather is all present and secure. Typicallymuch of the original black enamel has worn away. The lenses and prisms areclean and clear with good collimation. Both oculars focus freely although oneis slightly stiffer than the other. One objective lens rim is dented. Theoriginal right hand top cover plate had been badly and deliberately obliteratedso a contemporary plate has been substituted. It has a tiny crack where thegrub screw is. The bending bar locking plate is missing. The binoculars havewhat looks to be their original leather neck strap. The eye cups are veryauthentic replacements.The left hand plate is inscribed Carl Zeiss Jena D.R.P. The righthand plate is inscribed Fussartillerie D.F. 8 X NO 7527. The serial number is 7953.
