Bynolyt Binoculars, SeaRanger II 7×50 Compass Binocular. Made in the Netherlands and used in the UK by the RNLI national lifeboat rescue service, this is a high specification, fully waterproof binocular with range-finding reticle and compass with night illumination. The binoculars are nitrogen filled and shock resistant. Field of view,124m @ 1,000m, weight 1135 gms with non-slip rubber housing. There is also a standard 1/4″ tripod bush under the front hinge cover. The red night-time illumination is powered by two standard LR43 button batteries. (Selected as ‘Best Buy’ in Practical Boat Owner August 2014.)
This particular example is in full working order with no issues. Optics are still fully sealed and crystal clear, as when new, and collimation is still as per the factory settings, no double image. Individual eyepiece focussers work smoothly and easily through their full range. The compass and the red illumination are in full working order and the reticle clear in the right optics.
Apparently the binoculars would have been sold with a bright yellow flotation lanyard attached but this had been removed before I bought them. I am supplying a new standard lanyard but if used offshore, purchase of a floatation type is probably a good idea. They cost from about 20 on Ebay,
The rainguard eyepiece cover and attached objective lens caps are still present, as is the original soft cover case. The binoculars will be carefully packed in a well padded box for dispatch and sent fully insured. I never end auctions early so there is no “buy-it-now” price.
