Barr& Stroud CF31 7 x 50 binoculars serial number 117881 (1954.) TheGlasgow firm of Barr & Stroud stands as one of the greatproducers of precision optical apparatus of all kinds and a majorsupplier to the armed forces of Britain for almost a century. TheCF31 was launched in 1934 and continued in production until the1960’s, becoming one of the firm’s most popular models. This examplefeatures full blue optical coatings for optimal viewing even in lowlight conditions. FOV is quoted as 121 yds @ 1000 yds. These fineglasses have just been fully cleaned and serviced by one of Europe’sleading optical specialists so view now just as well as when theyfirst left the Anniesland, Glasgow factory in 1938. Even the bestcared for binoculars develop haze over the years but experiencingthem in this condition, just like when they were first made is arevelation, optics as clear as a wine glass, perfectly collimated,smooth central focussing ( phospher bonzed bushed for Barr &Stroud.) These are light, beautifully balanced binoculars, a joy touse, especially in such amazing optical condition. As to cosmetics,they have been well cared for and just show the normal light wear tothe paint typical recreational use. They have their original solidEnglish leather case with red velvet lining, also the original casestrap and black binocular lanyard. Fine classic British binoculars inA1 optical condition.
