I have here an AstroTrac TT320X-AG equatorial mount with scope for sale. It’s designed to compensate against the movement of the Earth to allow very long exposures of the night sky without blur. It’s ideal for both wider-angle shots and deep sky images using a DSLR and long lens, or a camera mounted on a small telescope. It gives up to two hours of tracking, and if aligned accurately, is remarkably precise. The image I’ve included of the Andromeda Galaxy was shot with it, using a 400mm lens and a DSLR.
The tracker comes with the scope included (normally sold separately), as well as the power pack, which takes 8 AAs. The device is about the size of your forearm.
I’m selling because I just don’t get the time to use it any more. Condition is generally good, but there are a few signs of use. Note that the scope, which attaches magnetically, has a bit of a loose connection so sometimes flickers on and off at certain positions on the brightness knob. I enquired about a replacement screw-on LED part but at 40 I didn’t bother. It’s not really a problem – you just might have to turn the brightness dial slightly every now and then. If you’ve not used an equatorial mount before, it’s important to know that you’ll need two tripod heads, which of course don’t come with the tracker. The AstroTrac doesn’t come in its own box, but I have printed out an instruction manual (also available online) and it will be very well packaged for delivery.
Retail price new is around 508 for this kit (https://www.tringastro.co.uk/astrotrac-tt320x-ag-3019-p.asp). Any questions, please ask. Below is some more info…
